While the NC Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS) sets student expectations, the LIS and their associated instructional practices set expectations for teaching literacy. The LIS can be used to ensure that all K-2 teachers across North Carolina have a comMonday, March 27 understanding and delivery of literacy instruction.

In this session, participants will take a deeper dive into the PreK-5 LIS and gain a better understanding of how the NCSCOS, SoR, and LIS all work in tandem with one another, within the elementary classroom.
